چکیده

Plasmon hybridization theory (PHT) is an analytical model developed for understanding plasmonic interactions within complex metallic nanostructures, and gives a useful insight for optimizing design parameters. However, this theory is based on the electrostatic limit, which restricts the model to nanostructures much smaller than the free space wavelength of light. Here, we extend the PHT to incorporate retardation of the Coulomb interaction and investigate the effects of retardation on plasmons within metallic structures. We compare these results using other methods, such as Mie scattering theory and the finite integration technique, and observe a good agreement in both electrostatic and retardation regimes. Plasmons within metallic nanospheres and nanotubes are shown to have significant retardation in certain regimes, causing red-shifting to plasmon wavelengths, and we discuss the implications of retardation for plasmonic devices. 3 Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. New effects in an ultracompact Young's double nanoslit with plasmon hybridization

We present a theoretical study on the anomalous transmission of an asymmetric Young’s double metallic nanoslit with an ultrathin interval. The slit–slit interactions show exotic optical properties, particularly strong suppression of light transmission with narrow bandwidth and red/blue shifting of transmission peaks from individual slits, in contrast to currently welldeveloped subwavelength opt...

Plasmonic Thermal Conductance of Stack of Metallic Nanorings

In this paper, we study the plasmonic thermal conductance of ordered stacks of metallic nanorings in a host material. Using second quantized formalism of the Random Phase Approximation, we first determine the dispersion relations of surface plasmon waves on the stacks of nanorings. Then, using Landauer-Buttiker formalism, we determine the coefficient of plasmonic thermal conductance and heat cu...

Vibron and phonon hybridization in dielectric nanostructures.

Plasmon hybridization theory has been an invaluable tool in advancing our understanding of the optical properties of metallic nanostructures. Through the prism of molecular orbital theory, it allows one to interpret complex structures as "plasmonic molecules" and easily predict and engineer their electromagnetic response. However, this formalism is limited to conducting particles. Here, we pres...

Waveguide Plasmon Resonance of Arrayed Metallic Nanostructures Patterned on a Soft Substrate by Direct Contact Printing Lithography

This paper presents a direct contact printing method to obtain arrayed metallic nanostructures on a soft polymer substrate. It utilizes a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) mold replicated from silicon molds to transfer metallic nanopatterns onto a polymer substrate based on differences in interfacial bonding energy. Arrayed metallic nanodisks with a disk diameter down to 180 nm and a center-to-center...

Substrate-induced Fano resonances of a plasmonic nanocube: a route to increased-sensitivity localized surface plasmon resonance sensors revealed.

Symmetry-breaking introduced by an adjacent semi-infinite dielectric can introduce coupling and hybridization of the plasmon modes of a metallic nanostructure. This effect is particularly large for entities with a large contact area adjacent to the dielectric. For a nanocube, a nearby dielectric mediates an interaction between bright dipolar and dark quadrupolar modes, resulting in bonding and ...
